Omer WahajPapercuts Managing Editor
It wasn’t too long ago that I would dream of fighting dinosaurs, flying to the moon, traveling in time, becoming an air force pilot, and of being a physicist inventing crazy new things in the lab. I’m not sure exactly where I took the wrong (or the right) turn and ended up being a writer and a musician. After studying particle physics, applying mathematics, and observing astronomy, I dabbled in film, played guitar and finished marketing. I have since emerged as an independent penman, managing and developing online content, arranging words and letters to look like falling/flying birds, trying to rhyme, sometime reason and mostly goofing around writing short stories, essays, articles, abstract reveries and even an unfinished novel or two while occasionally mixing and producing various genres of electronica. I joined DWL in 2007 and quickly became involved with the forums. Here, I learned how to fine tune my writing and editing skills and also discovered many of my fellow desi writers scattered all over the world. Interaction led to familiarity and I was invited to work with the DWL team. I started in 2011 as articles editor and by 2012, I had become the managing editor for Papercuts. I’m currently working on several projects around DWL/Papercuts – such as coordinating with the prose and poetry editing teams for every issue, managing the content, as well as other administrative and managerial work at the back end – and having an absolutely fantastic time doing it! |
