Saira AnsariPapercuts Art Director
Saira Ansari is a writer and an artist, with an interest in art history and critical commentary. She attended the National College of Arts (NCA), Lahore, Pakistan where she received her BFA painting in 2004, followed by an MA in Visual Arts in 2010. Saira has been writing on art and culture in print and electronic publications across Pakistan, UAE and Brazil for over ten years. She has also written on a wide range of topics within the sphere of human rights and political awareness within Pakistan and for the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP). Over the years, Saira has contributed to Desi Writers’ Lounge for the art features, and is proud to be involved with the first print issue where she worked with the editorial team on the cover story of artist Asif Ahmed. Saira currently lives in Dubai, where she is working at a leading art gallery that promotes contemporary Middle Eastern artists. She is also responsible for managing book projects that cover the artist’s oeuvre visually and academically. Prior to that, she lived in Rio de Janeiro for a year and a half where she contributed as an arts correspondent for The Rio Times, working alongside on various personal art and writing projects.
