Translation: It Isn’t An Extraordinary Thing by Afzal Ahmed Syed

papercut   SHARE THIS ARTICLE

It isn’t an extraordinary thing
That I was searched
And my heart stolen

Nor
That my house was set on fire
To throw me out

Nor
That I was shoved into a truck
With dog tongs

Nor even
That when I held a piece of burning coal in my hand
And asked, “What’s in my hand?”
You could not say anything

Afzal Ahmed Syed, Yeh Koi Ghair Mamuli Baat Nahi, Matti Ki Kaan, p. 64.
