Best known for her writings for young adults, such as No Guns at my Son’s Funeral (Roli Books, 2005, currently being made into a motion picture), Weed (IndiaInk, 2008), I'm Not Butter Chicken (Roli), Wingless (IndiaInk, 2008), and The Little Bird who held the Sky up with his Feet (Rupa, which was on the 1001 Books to Read Before you Grow Up), to mention a few, Paro Anand also works extensively with the troubled youth, especially with orphans of separatist violence in Kashmir. A renowned performance storyteller, with performances across India and in the UK, Germany, France, Switzerland, Sweden, Bangladesh, Bhutan and Singapore, Anand has also headed the National Centre for Children’s Literature, the apex body for children’s literature in India.
