DWL Lit Bites Oct 30

DWL Lit Bites is DWL Blog’s weekly roundup of literary news. Send us your suggestions on Facebook, tweet at us @desi_writers or leave a comment!

Hello readers! In this week’s Lit Bites, we bring you links from the macabre couple itself, Sylvia Plath and Ted Hughes, as well as an interview with the best parody Twitter account @GuyinYourMFA.

1. Sylvia Plath was born on October 27, 1932. In honor of the brilliant poet and author, Flavorwire rounded up her best quotes on birth and death.

2. Interestingly, Plath was married to that other literary giant, Ted Hughes, who died October 28, 1998. Alex Miller Jr. at The Millions reviews Jonathan Bates’ biography of the poet, who remained as elusive as ever, in his works and his personal life.

3. If you follow literary Twitter, then you must be familiar with @GuyinYourMFA in which Dana Schwartz parodies that literary mansplainer in every class who thinks you need workshop advice. Anthony Marra interviews this millennial genius and hilarity ensues.

4. Over on this side of the world, a Pakistani author was denied an Indian visa to attend a literary festival. Read the story here.
