NaNoWriMo 2016

Following a successful partnership in 2015, DWL will be participating in the National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) again this year. Several of our 2015 participants completed their 50,000-word drafts within the 30 days of November and we’re hoping for an even better result this time. We have planned writing sessions in Islamabad and Karachi.

The Pakistan Municipal Liaison for NaNoWriMo, Christie Lauder, will be helping participants in Karachi with preparatory exercises and tips on novel writing through November.

For participation in offline writing sessions in Islamabad and Karachi, shoot us an email at islamabad@desiwriterslounge.net and karachi@desiwriterslounge.net respectively.

Here’s a message from DWL’s Karachi representative about the time and venue of the Karachi writing sessions: “We will be hosting the weekly write-in sessions in November at T2F every Saturday from 4-6pm. We will also be hosting a mini-workshop on the 21st of October at the same venue. The kick-off party will be on the 29th of October.

We will be charging a nominal fee for the write-in sessions. However, we are offering a discount if you register with us before the 20th of October. So what are you waiting for? Contact us at: karachi@desiwriterslounge.net and get ready to write! [Details of the fee and time of various events will be provided once the registration is confirmed.]”

In order to take part in NaNoWriMo, you will have to create an account at nanowrimo.org. Anyone anywhere in the world can participate. Writers are required to write as much as 1,667 words each day and update their word counts on the website.

We’re also discussing novel writing and sharing NaNoWriMo prep exercises on our workshop forum. You will need to register for the workshop to be able to post there. Please include a writing sample while registering and add a note in the writing sample informing us that you want to participate in NaNoWriMo with DWL. Thanks!
